There is nothing quite like a warm, spiced drink to warm your soul on a winter night. My spiked mulled apple cider will definitely hit the spot.
I used Belgian cider and Belgian rum, keeping it local. Of course you can opt out of the rum. I didn’t use any orange peel as I truly dislike taste of oranges.
Have it hot or cold, but nothing beats it hot cuddled up on the sofa when snowflakes fall.
SWAPS & TIPS fro my hot apple cider :
I bought Belgian apple cider, you can use unfiltered apple juice as well.
Use the spices you like, I am not always a fan of cinnamon but love cloves, star anise, juniper berries, cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg.
Add a citrus rind for some zing like orange, lemon or grapefruit.
Serve hot or cold.
Instead of rum, use cognac or a fruit of flower liquor of your choice.
