In effort to consume less artificial sugar but still pocket an emergency energy boost, I have tested a few Home Made snacks recipes and came up with 2 easy, peasy and yummy no sugar treats.

You can also freeze them for about a month and eat them straight out of the freezer if you like extra chewiness or crunch.

Cacao and Dates Candy Bars and Nutty Energy Bursts

Ingredients

For the Cacao and Dates Candy Bar:

  • 50 gr hazelnuts
  • 50 gr pistachios
  • 100 gr pitted dates
  • 185 ml melted coconut oil
  • 35 gr cacao powder
  • 75 gr granola
  • 35 gr dried apricots, diced

For the Nutty Energy Bursts:

  • 200 gr mixture of nuts such as hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds
  • 200 gr pitted dates
  • 50 gr mixture of dried fruits such as apricot, cranberry, raisins
  • 40 gr chia seeds
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

For the Cacao and Dates Candy Bar:

  1. Add to your food processor the dates, melted coconut oil and cacao powder. Blend until smoothish. Transfer to a  bowl.
  2. Add the granola, apricots and nuts and mix well.
  3. Spread the mixture into a baking tin (sheet pan) lined with parchment paper and pop into the freezer to set. When set cut in bars. Store in the fridge.

For the Nutty Energy Bursts:

  1. Add to your food processor the dates, seeds, fruit and nuts and just blend.
  2. Remove the mixture and spread into  a baking tin lined with parchment paper and pop into freezer to set. When set cut in little squares or any shape you like. Store in fridge.
