Nothing has more power than a lovely dressing to turn a simple salad into a real yummy meal. I hear people struggle making a tasty dressing or always make the same one . So let me help you on your way with these 5 easy make-under-5-minutes dressings with a TWIST that will give any salad, ham sandwich or smoked fish platter a big lift!

Most of these condiments are in your cupboard or fridge. By adding a few fresh ingredients you can have a winner on your hands. It does not always have to be complicated to be yummy!

I always have a jar ready to shake a dressing into shape. Simply add the ingredients to the jar and SHAKE. – done …

OIL – FRESH HERBS

Add to oil and balsamic vinegar a fresh herb like oregano to make your burrata taste of Italy.

RECIPE: add to 30 ml olive oil, 1 table spoon of balsamic vinegar and some fresh oregano leaves

HONEY – MUSTARD

This is a major classic and one of my favourites but why not try to add a flavoured mustard with truffles for example. This is delish with tender chicken in a veggie salad.

RECIPE: add to 30 ml olive oil  1 table spoon of truffle mustard and 1 teaspoon of honey and shake. Taste and adjust the flavour with more honey for sweetens or more mustard for sharpness.

CHIVES – YOGURT

What is better than a yogurt and chives dressing on a nice piece of cold salmon with garden green beans?? Just lovely! now let’s twist it a bit and use instead of regular yogurt, try Kefir  yogurt. It contains 3 times more good bacteria and up to 20 times more probiotics than regular yogurt. Try greek yogurt which has a ticker consistency and  is higher in protein than regular yogurt.

RECIPE: add to 30 ml kefir yogurt, chopped fresh chives, juice form lemon and season with salt and pepper, shake and taste. Adjust to flavour to taste.

OIL – VINEGAR

A classic vinaigrette is just so great, i mean it is a classic because people just love it! Are you looking for a new taste in your vinaigrette, try to add some pomegranate juice or vinegar and it will blow you away! It tastes great with seafood.

RECIPE: add to 30 ml olive oil, 1 table spoon of pomegranate vinegar or add 1 table spoon of vinegar and 1 table spoon of pomegranate juice. add a squeeze of lime for extra zingyness.

SOY SAUCE

Spice up your regular soy sauce by adding some lemon juice and chilli flakes, great with salmon sushi.

RECIPE: add to 30 ml soy sauce, chilli flakes and a bit of lemon juice.
